A Haggadah (Hebrew for “telling”) is the essential Jewish Passover Seder, a ritual feast retelling the Exodus story of Israelites escaping slavery in Egypt. It’s filled with prayers, blessings, songs, and commentary that dictates the order (seder) of the festive meal, making it a story of freedom and remembrance.

Siona Benjamin has been commissioned to illuminate a Haggadah for Central synagogue. She was guided by the rabbis at Central Synagogue, mainly Rabbi Sarah Berman who led this commission, to make illustrations that emphasize the mixed multitude of the Jewish Diaspora. Detailed and colorful illustrations fill the pages throughout the book, making this a collectors Haggadah to be enjoyed at every Seder table.

This Haggadah commission was in honour of Rabbi Angela Buchdahl on her 20th year anniversary leading Central Synagogue in New York.
